Caring for future generations

As a company are focusing a lot on making products that are more ECO friendly. We spend a lot of time researching the materials we use, designing the products and educating our customers on what to do with the products when they're not needed anymore. We are proud of where we are today, but we know that we have a long way to go until we are satisfied. We’re not perfect, but we are trying to take steps in the right direction.

But the real power is you as a consumer, the sustainable choices you make every day and the companies you support. We urge you to join our mission for a sustainable planet.

Herobility’s manufacturing facilities in China comply with Good Manufacturing Practice, human rights, as well as ISO9001 and BSCI.

Choosing the right materials

We spend a lot of time thinking about the materials we use in our products. Since we sell products meant for children, we must put quality and safety first, and then do our best to reduce our environmental impact. All our materials must be hygienic and safe, and they need to comply with international standards of safety.

What do we mean when we say “Eco”?

ECO is an abbreviation of Ecology, the study of interconnected life and the environments we inhabit. The meaning of a word like Eco can differ between languages and industries. We don’t mean to imply that our products marked with ECO are organic or biodegradable, nor that we use exclusively plant based materials in these products.

Instead, it means that when designing these products we are taking every step we can to reduce our climate footprint, compared to products made entirely from traditional plastics made from crude oil. We strive to use materials that will affect our ecosystem as little as possible, to the extent that the products are still safe and usable. We do this by reducing the use of traditional plastic and replacing it with, for example, bioplastics, glass, silicone, and steel. Of course, every material has pros and cons, but in order to comply with the exacting standards for baby products, we have chosen these ones.

Pros and cons of each material

Bioplastic
Our bioplastic can more precisely be called HDPE, and is made from sugar cane plants . When they grow, these plants absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, so the plastic has a much smaller carbon footprint than traditional plastics. Bioplastic can be recycled, but the technology to do so isn’t available everywhere. Contact your local recycling program to ask about how to recycle your products made from bioplastic.

Glass
The biggest advantage of using glass is that it’s food safe, sustainable and easy to recycle, again and again. Plus it’s easy to clean and doesn’t stain. To recycle your Herobility products made from glass, just put them with your other glass recycling.

Silicone
Silicone is a good alternative to plastic that often lasts longer, and doesn’t deteriorate over time. Unlike latex or natural rubber, very few people are allergic to silicone, and it’s considered safe enough to be used in countless medical devices.
Contact your local recycling program to ask about how to recycle your products made from silicone.

Steel

Stainless steel is a material that lasts a very long time, doesn’t rust or corrode, and that can be recycled again and again. To recycle your Herobility products made from stainless steel, just put them with your other metal recycling.

Product Design

There isn’t a material or process in the world that could make us develop products that parents wouldn’t want to use. We have a long checklist to make sure that every product we launch are useful for families, and are easy to reuse and recycle. All of our products are:

Safe for your child Developed to support your child’s development Developed to make life easier for you as a parent.

We design products that are interchangeable to prolong their lifespan. We prioritize smart functions before unnecessary design details.

Care instructions

Our ambition is that you should get as much use and joy out of every product as possible before recycling it. That’s why a lot of our communication focuses on how to use your Herobility products in new and different ways, but also on how to take care of your products to make them last as long as possible.

Note: Some of our products have a recommended expiry date in order to comply with international safety standards for baby products. For example, pacifiers and rubber nipples have a recommended lifespan of two months from first use. Other products can be given to friends who are expecting, or saved if you’ve got another baby on the way some day.

We support heroes
Trees for the future
Herobility supports Trees for the Future. Their mission is to end hunger and poverty for farmers and their families by planting new forests and crops. Together, we’re planting trees in Africa to reduce our CO2 footprint and help nature and society on the way.
